Enid knew that near the town of L’Anse aux Meadows archeologists had found the remains of a Viking settlement dated from the 11th century. She had read quite a bit about how the Vikings had landed in what is now Newfoundland and had named their settlement Vinland. Enid had even seen artifacts from the Epaves Bay archeological dig. What she didn’t know was that she was about to see a Viking settlement, in its own time, first hand.
In a frantic attempt to outrun the murderer she had identified to the police, Enid found herself transported back in time to a kingdom called Vail far south of the Vinland settlement, with no way to get back home. Yet, as her days in the realm of Vail turned into weeks and then into months, Enid was not so sure she wanted to return to her time even if she could have done so.
Through her weeks with Kane (the leader of a small band of rebels) Enid discovered that his wisdom was exceeded only by his compassion and her admiration for him grew steadily into something more.
Follow Enid back to a land of Vikings who carved a kingdom out of wilderness and created a link to our world by the mystery of the Great Bracteate medallion.
